Its Almost Show Time

Today was my First “Dress Rehearsal,” for the Musical, “Alice in Wonderland” — which turned out to be just a Full Tech Rehearsal… Pretty much using everything but Costumes.

This week, I will have rehearsal Monday thru Friday from 2:30 to 6:00PM and Thursday is Previews for Students and Staff of the School.

Friday is Opening Night at 7PM and Saturday is the 2nd and Third Showing… 12PM and 7PM — following the final showing is the Cast Party for Cast and Crew.

Are Lawyers Doctors, too?

February 28th, 2009  |  Published in Information, Law

This is a question many have asked themself before if they have heard of the degree that a Lawyer receives. The degree is called “Juris Doctor”.

According to this article written by Kathleen Maher, a lawyer with the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility, lawyers may use the Title “Doctor” if it is not prohibited in their state of Practice.

She writes:

The committee advised, however, that it may be misleading for a lawyer to use doctor in certain contexts, such as advertising legal services relating to medical malpractice, because of the possibility of misleading prospective clients about a lawyer’s qualifications and the results he or she might achieve. In those instances, the committee said, the advertising should include a prominent disclaimer and statement about the lawyer’s qualifications.

That’s a pretty good prescription to follow, at least in states where lawyers are not prohibited outright from calling themselves doctor.

Information for this topic is from the ABA’s Online journal at ABANet.Org.

My Time to Move On

January 31st, 2009 was my final day as Support Specialist at TalkShoe. I’ve had an amazing time at TalkShoe and I have really gained a lot as an employee of an internet company.

It was great to get to work with every one of the TalkShoe Users and TalkShoe Staff. Working with the staff at TalkShoe was great, they were all great to me and I’ve enjoyed my stay as Support Specialist at TalkShoe.

I am moving on to pursue more opportunities in my life, things like the musical/drama and Science Olympiad at my school; and volunteering around my community as I always have done. Although I am leaving the company as an Employee, I am staying a user and TalkShoe community member.

Update: For those that emailed in, yes – I would be willing to work with Dave again in the future!

This Week in Law

December 27th, 2008  |  Published in Technology

This Week In Law is a great Podcast, hosted by Denise Howell and others. On TWIL, Denise and her Panel discuss issues in the technology law, including Copyright, Patents and more… It is a Podcast on the TWiT network at www.twit.tv. They give great prospective on all of their topics from the voice of them as a Lawyer across the country.

I’ve been meaning to listen to this podcast for awhile now and I thought since I do plan on becoming Lawyer, well – it was time to give it a listen… It is a great podcast on the subject of Law.

You can find TWIL (This Week in Law) on the podcast’s page on www.twit.tv.

Would You Pay?

December 24th, 2008  |  Published in Blog

Yes, thats the question; Would you pay? The question really is Would you pay to read some of my Writing pieces that I am writing?

As most of you know, I have a Series called the “NCIO Team” and it is about a group of Forensic Specialists, Investigators and Special Agents on the NCIO Team (Nation Criminal Investigation Operations). That is not the only series I write; although the other one I have not started yet and it will be quite similar, but a little different.

Here is the First writing of the “NCIO Team” series, called Welcome to the NCIO Team.

Take a read at that and let me know if you would pay to read full writing pieces of that Series and the new and upcoming series. I want to get some idea of people that would be willing to pay.

Note: I have not decided if I am going to charge, quite yet.
