Conviction was a Legal Drama that was produced by Wolf Films on the NBC Universal network. The show takes place in the New York County District Attorney’s office and the show also follows the new and young attorneys that have joined the District Attorney’s office as Assistant District Attorneys.. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s veteran A.D.A Alexandra Cabot as Beauru chief, the top level District Attorney at the District Attorney’s office.
NBC ordered “Conviction” with 13 episodes for season 1 and the show’s ratings were beaten up by CBS’s NUMB3RS with an average of 7.7 million viewers, NUMB3RS had an average of 11.7 million. NBC did not order a second season and that marks it as Wolf Film’s second Legal drama to not reach a second season, the first being Trial by Jury. Trial by Jury premiered just one year before the premiere of Conviction.
I have spent a good part of my day watching the show on Hulu, I’ve heard that the season finale is good. I am currently on episode 7 of 13, it is called, “True Love” — one of the A.D.A’s is attacked and is in the hospital for most of the episode.
All in all, it is too bad that NBC couldn’t keep it on and bring it back for the second season. Maybe another network would pick up the show and bring it back; but, seeing how production for the Fall 2009 seasons have already started and three of the cast members are currently in Regular cast roles on separate TV series. Stephanie March will return to the Special Victims Unit for season 11 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as A.D.A Alexandra Cabot for at least 10 episodes; did I mention that she appeared last season in 6 episodes. Milena Govich (Jessica Rossi) appeared in Law & Order as Detective Nina Cassidy (Season 17) and Julianne Nicholson appears as Detective Megan Wheeler in Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
