First Two Weeks in the High School

September 18th, 2009  |  Published in Life, School

Two weeks have past since entering into the world of High School. I’ve had quite a bit of homework, definitely more than I did in Middle School (6-8th Grade)… English, Spanish and Earth Science top the list with Algebra coming in second place.

Today, I signed up for Broadcasting Club because I have special interests in that area. They were also in need of Announcers, Producers, Directors and Cameramen… With that, I decided to join!

Those that my tweet earlier today, know that I have decided to run for Vice President as a Sophomore next school year. I also signed up for Mock Trial at Orientation in August, I do not know when it starts and I will let you all know when I begin Mock Trial.

College: My Plan for College

September 5th, 2009  |  Published in Blog, Life, School

Yes, I know what your saying, “You’re just entering High School…”

Thats right and I’ve always been somebody who likes to plan ahead, that means thinking about what I would like to do. I’ve typed a blog post about this before, I thought that I would put an update out about what I would like to do for college and as a career.

Bachelors Degree

I plan to apply to Cornell University’s Agriculture and Life Sciences for Biological Science and I know, this is expensive at approximately $37,000 a year and it adds up to about $148,000 for the Bachelors Degree (4 years). This allows me to go on a track of “pre-vet” to become a Veterinary Student following my undergraduate education

When it comes to scholarships, I have already applied for two scholarships (I start my Freshmen on September 8th) and I plan to apply for many, many more…

Professional Degree

After completing a B.S. in Biological Science I plan on continuing my Science education and love for animals by becoming a Veterinary Student and completing a D.V.M (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree. I plan to apply to Cornell Veterinary School as well.

As long as I get licensed and such in Veterinary Medicine, I plan to do an internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery (12 month rotations) and specialize in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Small Animal Surgery. Which should bring me to a total of 6 to 7 years of additional Veterinary training (1 internship, 2 residencies).
