Changes to the Comments

August 30th, 2008  |  Published in Blog, Update

You’ll probably notice some changes to the comments now, I’ve added a few things.

1. Added Gravatars to Spice it up, as long as you use the email that is registered with Gravatar, you’ll see your’s.

2. When I comment, there is a red, 2px border around my comments now!

3. Added a new field, you must answer a math question, in order to post a comment on this blog now! (They’re easy, Its only addition.)

Soon, I’ll have a post out about how to add gravatars and make your author posts have a different design!

Tom, the MySpace Co-Founder, Hacker

August 30th, 2008  |  Published in Blog, Information

All of you that use MySpace, probably know of Tom. Well, today I read a blog post on TechCrunch about him lying about his age on MySpace along with reading that he was a hacker when he was fourteen, couldn’t be arrested (he was a minor). Here’s a quote from the article:

Now we’ve learned a much more colorful part of Anderson’s history: In 1985, when he was fourteen and in high school in Escondido, California, Anderson was subject to one of the largest FBI raids in California history after hacking into a Chase Manhattan Bank computer system and subsequently showing his friends how to do it. He was never arrested because he was a minor, but the FBI confiscated all of his computer equipment and some newspaper accounts of the incident stated incorrectly (see image below from a 1986 LA Times story) that he was “convicted in federal court of computer hacking and placed on probation” (the statements were corrected in subsequent articles). Anderson used the hacker name “Lord Flathead.”

Wetpaint Changes Email Notifications

August 29th, 2008  |  Published in Wetpaint Wikis

On Monday, August 25th, Wetpaint released changes to the email notifications. They’re awesome, they make your email notifications look more like your website! Don’t get tricked into thinking you are looking at your wiki on Wetpaint!

This includes a change in what the subject looks like as well, making it more descriptive! From what I understand, this ensures that emails actually make it to every member’s inbox.

Give Wetpaint some feedback on Wetpaint Central and Great job Wetpaint Developers and the rest of the Team!

About the Theme

August 28th, 2008  |  Published in Blog

You’ve probably seen the new design right on my blog (here). We’ll I changed the theme a while ago.

How did I do it? First I tried creating my own theme from cratch, got all of the files completed but just couldn’t get the Style template to work right! So, heres what I did:

  • Took the Daily Diary from WPElegantThemes.
  • Modified it to the files that I had already created, keeping the theme how I wanted.
  • Added it to the site, made some final touches.
  • And Done!

So, Yes – I did attempt to create a theme from scratch and that failed! Instead, I went with the backup plan. Jeff, I did still win – I had a new design online before you did.

Thanks for reading, I’ve got another post coming at you in about two (2) hours.. See ya then!

Update on Everything

August 28th, 2008  |  Published in Blog, Update

Hey Guys -

I know you haven’t seen much of anything from me lately, I’ve been super busy! Here is a quick overview of what has been going on:

1. Been busy with 2 projects and TalkShoe Support. First project, a Project that me and a few other friends are working on for this school year and we had to have a few meetings and figure some stuff out! The other project being a website for my dad, he and a place he works as a financial secretary wanted me to be the lead web administrator and developer! No, I do not get paid.. I think I get enough for 14 from TalkShoe, Thanks Dave!

2. Just haven’t had the time to update my blog or twitter and other social places.

3. Getting ready to go back to school, next Wednesday. Watch out for a TalkShoe, support update.

In reply to Jeff Chandler’s comment on a post a little bit back, I will explain in a post later.. How I did this theme and what resources were used.

That’s it for now, I’ll update you all in a few.
